Charles and I got back from a boat ride
down the Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans. It was quite the
educational experience for me since I didn't pay much attention in
school to U.S. History. Our ports of call were Helena, Ark. Vicksburg
and Natchez Miss. Baton Rouge, St. Francisville and Oak Alley
(Vacherie) and New Orleans, Louisiana. I learned a lot of new words
including antebellum, punkah (shoo fly)...I saw, held and ate
alligator and found out that the bayou never turns blue. I went for a
tour on a bus inside of Angola Men's State Pen which also has a
museum.
Yesterday I went to see the movie "The Reaping" with Hilary
Swank playing at the Sierra Cinemas. It was filmed in and around St.
Francisville. I was inside the house that was used for some scenes. It
is named Greenwood Plantation. Since I have been home I have been
putting together a photo album and scrap book and looking on line for
more info. about all the places I toured. It was great fun on the ship
going down the river with friends and fine folk and eating very well
but I am amazed at what I find on the net.

Charles wanted to watch
the paddle from the deck above it.

I thought a picture by
the wheel in the chart room would be good since it was sunny
and warm that day.

I took this from inside
