Rough & Ready's Fruit Jar Pickers

We're  friends that sing and play music solely for the fun doing it. Not a band in the usual sense, but a casual group. Our audience sings along with gusto since most of the songs are old favorites made easy by our large print song books with forgotten lyrics. We call our style "Rough and Ready Bluegrass" since we love to take liberties with the words and harmonies. It's fun to joke with each other and the audience. You can join us on Sunday mornings (10 to noon) at the Rough and Ready Opry Palace which is an abandoned service station improvised into an auditorium. We roll up the doors so the audience can spill over into an area that is covered with shade cloth. It's a good idea to bring your own chair, because we typically have more than 20 musicians playing, and more than 100 in the audience singing along with us.

Today (July 31, 2005) is special .  It's Fay Cameron's 99th birthday. She loves the music, and used to play with a group similar to ours, so she brought her own instrument for the occasion.
